Wireless Internet

The Michiana Free-Net Society is very excited about an opportunity to serve our community in conjunction with the St. Joseph County Public Library. We have built a wireless Internet "canopy" over downtown South Bend.

We hope that you have had a chance to enjoy the wireless service in downtown South Bend! Michiana Free-Net is proud to offer this service for $5/day in the downtown area or for only $15/month. This service includes the wireless access, an email account with spam filtering, and dial up service as a back up when you are out of the wireless service area. We have local dial up numbers for both South Bend and Elkhart. If you have any questions feel free to contact us.

For users with a laptop computer and a wireless card, they will be able to connect at high speeds at places in downtown from Monroe on the North to Bartlett on the South, Lafayette on the West and St. Joseph Street on the East. Users will have Internet access at tables outside any restaurant, your car, or inside any restaurant or business that joins the project. Individual users connecting to the wireless network outside will be required to get a Michiana Free-Net account which will be free for the first three months of the pilot phase.
